VideoPoker Jackpot near Reno, Nevada
I hit 4 aces with a 3 kicker on a nickel video poker machine and won a nice little jackpot at the Silver Queen Casino in Sparks, Nevada (near Reno). It's on one of those nice older machines where you can see and hear the coins drop in the bucket. It's getting harder and harder to find these "old school" machines. Most poker machines now have computerized jackpot sounds - just doesn't quite cut it when you hit a big one.

Cass & Frankie--Cass's Birthday 1989, Part 10 (Conclusion)
A little talking, a lot of kissing, and a mutual decision that it's not the right time to give in to temptation later, Cass says he should probably go home, and Frankie agrees he probably should. But when Cass gets to the door, he admits to Frankie that he doesn't want to leave, and that it has nothing to do with not wanting to be alone on his birthday. He asks if he can stick around for a while, and she says sure. They go for a poker rematch, nickel-dime-quarter. As Frankie gets out the deck of cards, Cass looks at her intently and says, "Something's happening here, isn't it?" She looks back at him just as intently, with a grin, and says, "Shut up and deal, Winthrop," as she extends the deck of cards to him. Freeze frame, and that is Cass's birthday from 1989.

The Case of the Stolen Heart--Part 6
Cass pays a visit to Miss Lovelorn (Felicia), who shows him what she sees inside her crystal ball--Riley O'Hara reporting that Francesca slept through the robbery of her heart, and that the windows were locked and there were no footprints in the snow, so it was an inside job. When Cass tells Miss Lovelorn he only deals in facts, Miss Lovelorn tells him to go with his instincts sometime; it is no fun to go through life with your feelings locked up. Cass tells Miss Lovelorn that this dame stomped all over his feelings with her six-inch heels and he hasn't been able to cry since and he'll never be hurt that way again. Miss Lovelorn tells him he's a coward, then tells him she sees a clue in her crystal ball. The clue is a file, and Cass must find it. Cass gives Miss Lovelorn a tip: a wooden nickel, and the advice not to take any wooden nickels. At Rick's Place, Lady Diana calls Francesca a floozy and tells her to marry Dr. Dapper heart or no heart. When Francesca says no can do, Diana says she hasn't had a heart for years and she's still kicking. Cass arrives then and confronts Dino about hurting Jenette and letting Mr. Lucky lead him down the road to ruin. Cass says there are dames you date and dames you marry. Dino asks if Cass went with Ruby too, and Cass says no, it was a different dame. Her moniker was Kathleen. Now he's paying, and so is Dino. Cass gets in on Rick and Lucky's poker game and makes a bet with Lucky: if Lucky wins, he gets Francesca's heart, but if Cass wins, Dino gets 5 Gs. Cass asks Francesca to blow on his deck for luck, and she does. Jennette arrives and, with Dino on piano, sings a slow, sultry version of "Another World." Cass wins the poker game, which means Dino gets his money. After the game is over, Francesca asks Lucky to excuse her and Cass for a moment. She leads Cass out onto the dance floor and draws him into a slow dance, then tells him she just saved his hand by distracting Lucky because Lucky cheats. She knows what he's doing for Dino and Jennette and she wants to help him. Cass says he sticks his neck out for nobody, but Francesca tells him he doesn't have to pretend with her, and then asks, "What do you say? Shall we give it another shot? I want to start over, Cass. With you." They stop dancing, but stand there in each other's arms, with Cass looking at Francesca in surprise. Many thanks to Janie for providing the episode!
